Li- censed in Technical Large Animal Emergency Rescue, Chris- tine brings extensive hands-on experience responding to a wide range of equine emergencies. She educates horse owners on practical, life-saving techniques that can be implemented using common barn equipment. A USDF Bronze Medalist and former hunter-jumper competitor and judge, she understands the performance and safety needs of horses and riders across dis- ciplines. For more than 15 years, Sandy has advised hundreds of clients on arena design, footing selection, and long-term maintenance. Her experience spans private backyard arenas to large commercial operations and Olympic-level facilities, helping owners create surfaces that promote soundness, du- rability, and optimal performance. After working as a teaching and research assistant, she pursued her M.S. and Ph.D. in Animal Science with an equine emphasis at Virginia Tech, focusing on nutrition and behavior. Today, she is Associate Professor and Director of Equine Studies at Wilson College, teaching nutrition, behavior, management, and exercise physiology. She received her Bachelor’s from Rutgers University in Equine Science and a Master’s in Plant Biology, also at Rutgers, where she studied rotational grazing of horses. Laura grew up riding hunter/jumpers in New Jer- sey and now lives in southeastern PA with her Standardbred mare, Frankie.
