We’ve all been holding our breath, waiting to see how things will play out. But Dressage at Devon is going ahead in 2021, and will be held September 28 to October 3 at the Devon Horse Show Grounds in Devon, PA.

There is something for everyone here – from exciting equine performances, to gourmet food, to more than 60 vendors offering exclusive apparel, fine arts, jewelry and antiques – for equestrians and non-equestrians alike. Take a break and enjoy a full meal or a light snack in The Pub with its closed-circuit coverage of the competition.

Returning will be favorites like the Parade of Breeds, showcasing the top horses from the Breed Show, and top performances culminating in the Grand Prix. Individual breed classes will feature the following: ISR Oldenburg, Hanoverian, Oldenburg (GOV), Highland Pony, Purebred Arabian, Half-bred Arabian, Irish Draught, Morgan, KWPN, Danish Warmblood, Shagya Arabian, Friesian, Westfalen, Trakehner, Appaloosa, American Saddlebred, Andalusian, Lusitano, and Rhinelander.

There will be lots that is new too. The Presentation of Sale Horses, taking place on Thursday, September 28, will provide a platform for sellers to show off their horses, buyers to get a good look at the horses and for buyers and sellers to meet in person.

Educational sessions will be held Saturday morning in the pub area. Experts include Susanne Owen Hassler, founder of THRIVE-Body*Mind*Spirit;  Christine Smith, farrier, handler and flight attendant; and Boy de Winter who will speak on creating the perfect freestyle. The Blessing of the Animals and Dressage Explorers will be held on Sunday, along with the popular stick-horse ride in the Dixon Oval.

The largest open breed show in the world will host young horses, from foals with their dams, to more independent four- and five-year-olds. They have all been carefully bred, tended and watched over as they matured. Some will go on to other disciplines. But some will go  on to upper-level dressage competitions – like the Performance Division at Dressage at Devon.

Dressage at Devon has a long tradition of great riders and great horses, performing from Fourth Level to the magical Grand Prix Musical Freestyle.  The years of practice and partnerships between rider and their equine partner culminate in their performance with amazing precision and style.

It’s going to be great. Hope you can join us.
